Shared bookmarks, with AI retrieval

Every link
has a home.

Rootio is built on one idea: a bookmark never lives alone. Every link belongs to a Root — a real thing you manage — and inside a Root your links sit on Shelves. No more folder trees that made sense the day you built them.

The Rootio app icon Root Shelf Link

How it works

Three words, and the whole thing makes sense.

Root, Shelf, Link. That is the entire structure — and it survives contact with a real library in a way a folder tree doesn't.

01 — ROOT

A real thing you manage

A store, an office, a brand, a side project. Roots are the things your work is actually about, so you never have to remember which folder you invented for them.

02 — SHELF

Where links get grouped

Ads, suppliers, contracts, inspiration. Shelves live inside a Root, and moving one into a team workspace is how you hand it over.

03 — LINK

Anything worth keeping

Links, notes and images. Add one from anywhere in a couple of taps, and Rootio suggests the title, the tags and where it probably belongs.

Ask

Where did I save the supplier's price list?

Retrieval

Ask instead of digging.

  • Plain language, grounded answers. The assistant reads your library and answers with the link itself — not a paraphrase of it.
  • Duplicates get merged, not scolded. Save the same page twice and Rootio offers to fold them together — one tap, and undoable from the timeline.
  • It knows where things go. Add a link from inside a Shelf and it just files there. You already said where.

Features

Built for the way a library actually grows.

Everything below is in the app today, on both platforms.

Save anything

Links, notes and images, added in a couple of taps. Titles, tags and placement come suggested, and every one of them stays editable.

Find it by asking

"Where's the price list?" beats remembering which folder you chose eight months ago. Answers cite the link they came from.

Bring your team

Invite by email or a join code. Share a Root and everyone opens the real thing — same shelves, same links, always current.

See what changed

A timeline of everything the team did, searchable, with a reply on each entry. Tap any row to jump to the link, shelf or root it's about.

Nothing is really deleted

Delete a Root and its shelves and links go to the trash together, as one thing you did. Restore puts all of them back — activity included.

Take it with you

Export any Root as clean Markdown, straight to the share sheet. Your library is yours, and there is no lock-in waiting at the end of it.

For teams

A workspace, not a shared folder.

  • Roots are shared by reference. The Root stays where its owner keeps it and the team opens the real one — sharing never forks somebody's context into a stale copy.
  • Shelves move. A list is a useful thing to hand over, so a Shelf can be copied or moved into another workspace outright.
  • Owners, admins and members. Who can invite, share and restructure is decided once, on the server, and every screen reads the same answer.
  • Joining is always free. Accepting an invitation never meets a paywall, whatever plan you are on.
